  • Do I need to audition to become a member of Easton Choral Arts?
At Easton Choral Arts, we are proud to embrace a 'doors wide open' policy, welcoming singers of all levels and backgrounds. While we once required auditions, we now invite anyone who loves to sing to join us—no audition necessary. Our choir thrives on the joy of making music together, and we believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute. Come share your voice with us!
  • Does being a member of ECAS cost anything?
Yes, there is a membership fee of $50 per semester, which helps cover the costs of music, rehearsal space, and other operational expenses. Students are always free, and we've also eliminated the need to purchase a choir dress or formal uniform. Most importantly, we want everyone to feel welcome—if the fee presents any difficulty, please don't hesitate to reach out. We’re committed to ensuring that finances are never a barrier to making music with us. Your presence and passion for singing are what matter most to us!
  • What if I cannot read music? Can I still become a member of Easton Choral Arts?
Absolutely! While being able to read music is helpful, it is not a requirement to join Easton Choral Arts. We have a wide range of experience levels from folks with music degrees to first time singers. Many of our members learn by ear or with the help of fellow singers. We provide plenty of support, including practice tracks and lots of guidance during rehearsals to help you feel confident and prepared for every performance. Whether you're a seasoned sight-reader or just starting out, you'll find a welcoming and supportive environment here.
  • What if I am not sure which voice part I should sing?
If you’re unsure about which voice part you should sing, don’t worry! We offer a friendly opportunity called 'One-on-ones' with our artistic director, Alexis Ward. In just five minutes of singing together, we can help identify your voice part by assessing your vocal range and where any of your breaks are located. Most importantly, we want every singer to feel comfortable and confident in their part. Whether you're a soprano, alto, tenor, or bass, we'll work with you to find the best fit!
  • What is the rehearsal schedule?
Our rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 PM at Christ Church Easton. Each semester includes anywhere from 12-15 rehearsals including a Saturday morning "retreat" and a final dress rehearsal during concert week. The fall semester runs from late August to early December, while the spring semester takes place from January to April. Participation is typically on a semesterly basis although we encourage all members to participate the entire year and attend regularly to fully enjoy the ECAS experience of making music together!
  • Is there an age limit to joining the choir?
Easton Choral Arts proudly welcomes singers from middle school and up, fostering a vibrant intergenerational community where everyone can share their passion for music regardless of age or experience. Students may also be interested in our Choral Scholars program, which provides middle, high school, and college aged students interested in choral music with a valuable leadership opportunity in our ensemble. Students can audition for this program and receive a semesterly scholarship for participating in the ensemble.
  • What types of music does Easton Choral Arts perform?

Our concerts feature a mix of classical works, contemporary pieces, traditional choral music, masterworks, and seasonal selections. We aim to celebrate a wide range of musical expressions, ensuring there’s something for everyone in our performances.
