Thomas Ward
Narrator/Pilot
Bio
Thomas Ward serves as narrator and "Captain" for On Wings of Song. He has served in the United States Air Force for 18 years, beginning his career as a Fire Protection Specialist before transitioning into Tactical Air Control Party (TACP), where he became a qualified Joint Tactical Air Controller (JTAC). In his role, he has coordinated close air support in complex operational environments and has completed three overseas deployments.
While serving in the Air Force, Thomas earned his Bachelor or Science in Aviation and has spent the past five years as a pilot while continuing to serve in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. He now also teaches flight instruction in the Aviation Department at Delaware State University, mentoring the next generation of aviators.
Among his distinctions, Thomas received the prestigious John L. Levitow Award during Airmen Leadership School, the highest honor presented to the top graduate, recognizing excellence in leadership, academic performance, and peer respect.
He lives in Delaware with his wife Alexis, who just so happens to be the Artistic Director of this program, and their two daughters, who keep life grounded even when everything else is up in the air.
