Denise Nathanson

Cellist

Bio

Cellist Denise Nathanson currently resides in Talbot County Maryland and can be heard performing chamber music in many venues on the Eastern Shore. She is the former Principal Cellist for the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and former Associate Principal Cellist for the Annapolis and Roanoke Symphony Orchestras. She was  the cello instructor for Hood College, Anne Arundel Community College and Frederick Community College. She has taught children of all ages from 5 to 85 and continues to do so in Talbot county. She has created and performed numerous education programs in schools throughout Maryland. Ms Nathanson enjoys performing “Informances”- part performance and part lecture and has done so in Maryland and Key West. While a resident of Key West she co-founded the Southernmost Chamber Music Society which performed to sold out audiences. She performed frequently at The Studios of key West, St Paul’s Episcopal and many other venues and returns as a guest artist. In Maryland she performs with her trio Still Waters (flute, cello and piano) most recently at Church of the Holy Trinity (Oxford, MD) and on the Peter and Judy Jackson chamber series at Salisbury University.

 

In addition to being a cellist, Ms. Nathanson is the owner of Denise’s Needlework in St Michaels, MD and is a RYT 200 Yoga Instructor.
